The Medical Futures process is simple - doctors, scientists and other healthcare professionals submit their ideas that they believe can change the world. The ideas are assessed by some of the world’s leading medical and business experts in a transparent process of peer review.

The Medical Futures process of pitching your idea to experts, began in 2001, and several years later was popularised in the BBC’s Dragon’s Den television format.

Medical Futures is now firmly established as one of the world’s leading fora for catalysing medical innovation. We continuously engage with the research funding bodies, venture capital organisations and industry to create and mobilise new routes to funding and work with investors and industry to facilitate the progression of ideas to improve patient care.

Although individual events take place throughout the year in various medical therapy areas, every four years, all of the winners are showcased at a high visibility event, Europe’s largest exhibition of early staged healthcare innovation. The innovation showcase coincides with the Medical Futures Innovation Awards, commonly known as the “Oscars of Healthcare”, a celebrity studded, gala dinner in front of an audience representing the Who’s Who of healthcare, representing the synergy between clinical and commercial success.
